Return to the Diesel Roster or Top of this Page650 - 656 were ex Conrail locos - Guilford renumbered 758, 759, 761 and 762 to 658, 659, 661 and 662 in 1985. All original locos were painted in the lightning stripe scheme - 758 was the only U33C to receive the all blue and yellow nose stripes. The ex Conrail locos retained their Conrail blue for some time. Unit #655 was Converted to Super 7 for Mexico by GE's Montreal plant.
U33C 757 burned with the Binghamton roundhouse and was rebuilt by MK. They replaced the long hood with the later style of the center door latches instead of the customary one at the top and one at the bottom. It also returned with the nose Gyralite signal light and the newer AAR control stand. 760, 761 also received the Gyralite but from the D&H's own shop forces. The U33C were still too new and therefore only the three listed received the nose Gyralite signal light.
The following is a list of the fate for the original D&H U33Cs:
751 - 753 - Returned to EL (see above)
754 - Sold to GE for Super 7 but scrapped in mid 90s by GE Erie
755 - Scrapped By Guilford in Colonie
756 - Sold to GE for Super 7 but scrapped in mid 90s by GE Erie
757 - Sold to GE for Super 7 but scrapped in mid 90s by GE Erie
758 - Converted to Super 7 for Mexico by GE's Montreal plant
759 - Converted to Super 7 for Mexico by GE's Montreal plant
760 - Scrapped by Guilford in Colonie
761 - Sold to GE for Super 7 but scrapped on mid 90s by GE Erie
762 - Sold to GE for Super 7. Sent to Montreal to be converted, but the
