Named for D&H Road Foreman Bernie O'Brien (B.C. O'Brien), 7312 is a pre-CP Rail D&H repaint, and is shown sitting at Kenwood Yard, near Albany, NY just prior to CP Rail takeover, in October 1990. Photo and scan by Neil C. Hunter.
Post CP Rail takeover "Riot of Colours". This photo shows D&H GP 38-2 7303, a "Calgary" rebuild with small cab shield and YELLOW side lettering, CP Rail SD40-2 778 (SOO) in the new "Double Flags" scheme, GATX SD40-2 2007 (on lease to CP, and soon to be owned by them) in original owner UP colours, and out of picture is CP Rail (SOO) SD40-2 748, heading for Kenwood Yard, Albany, NY in early 1995. Photo from the Jim Odell Collection.
Recently ecaped from the "clutches" of Guilford Transport Industries, D&H C424m 70 languishes at Kenwood yard with locos of the designated operator, NYS&W in October 1990. Although this loco is painted in the "Guilford" colours, the big 'G' has been removed and replaced by the D&H shield. Photo and scan by Neil C. Hunter.
Just prior to CP Rail's takeover of the D&H, CP SD40-2s 5683 and 5691 head D&H train 556 near Delanson, NY on route to Binghamton, NY, in October 1990. Photo and scan by Neil C. Hunter.
At Mohawk Yard, Schenectady, NY the "soon to be owner" of the D&H meets some of the "old owners" locos during interchange duties. The photo shows CP SD40-2s 5669 and 5674 with 2 Springfield Terminal SD45s (ex Southern) and a Springfield Terminal SD39-2 in October 1990. Photo and scan by Neil C. Hunter.
NYS&W GE DASH 8-40Bs 4002 and 4008 of the designated operator of the D&H prior to the sale to CP Rail await another task at Kenwood Yard, Albany, NY in October 1990. NYS&W owned four of these 4000hp locos numbered 4002 to 4008, and to make sure their tenure as designated operator would be a success, leased a further 16 from CSX numbering these locos 4010 to 4040. Note that NYS&W allots only even numbers to their freight locos. Photo and scan by Neil C. Hunter.
